In the midst of all the craziness in this world, especially over the past year and a half, it can be hard to find comfort and security. Studies have show that anxiety is on the rise and the affects of social distancing has made a profound impact on the psychological design of many. But for Christians, Jesus left us a profound phrase that should bring encouragement to our hearts, even in the midst of the most unsettling of times.
In John 16 Jesus is having a conversation with his disciples. The disciples are confused with the events that are happening surrounding the ministry of Jesus. Certainly dealing with a level of uncertainty, Jesus takes the time to comfort them. The Apostle John then closes the chapter with these words from Jesus:
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer,I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
As Christians, there is no need to worry about the status of our future! Even in the midst of uncertain times, we can rest assured that God is still in control and that there is absolutely nothing that can overthrown God's plan. It's time for us to live boldly and share the hope of Jesus to a world that so desperately need Him!
May we be comforted by that old Cathedral Quartet song:
I've read the back of the book and we win,
No more livin' in darkness we'll be living at home with Him.
You see there's no need to worry about it if you're born again.
I've read the back of the book and we win.
